Vote Tomorrow Night

The Seneca City Council will vote tomorrow night whether or not to purchase 18 new Discatcher Baskets for Shaver Recreation Complex.

Greater Oconee Disc Golf has been working on getting an expansion of the current course or adding an additional course for several years. A written presentation was given to the City’s finance committee late last month. A week ago several club members and players met with some members of the finance committee at the current course and talk about the growth of the sport and what a second course could mean for Seneca. We were told that night that they should be able to fund half of what we requested.

We originally requested funds for baskets, signs, rule sign and cement tee pads. Now, as it stands, if they fund a new course it would be $5,800 only. That would cover the cost of the baskets and freight. If this gets funded, the request for tee signs, a rule sign and cement tee pads will come at a later date. Most likely once the course is designed, tested and the club feels it is the best it can be.

More details as I know more.
